Frequently asked questions
What to look for when choosing a cafeteria system, what it costs, how long the rollout takes — and how it all works with c1.
About cafeteria systems
What is a cafeteria system?
Software in which employees choose their fringe benefits themselves from a budget set by the employer, while HR manages the policy, the declarations, the month-end close and the data passed to payroll in one place. The system calculates the budget and the tax cost of each benefit as employees choose, so both the employee and HR immediately see what fits.
Which benefits can c1 handle?
All cafeteria items allowed under the current Hungarian tax rules — for example the SZÉP Card, voluntary pension and health fund contributions or housing support — as well as the company’s own non-cafeteria benefits. We implement the annual rule changes in the system.

What should we look for when choosing a cafeteria system?
These are the points worth checking:
- Flexible policy: does it handle several employee groups, and mid-year (semi-annual, quarterly, monthly) declarations as well as annual ones?
- Legal updates: does the provider implement the annual tax changes on time and within the fee?
- Integration: can it deliver data in your payroll system’s format, and is there single sign-on (SSO)?
- Data security: where does the data live, and is there ISO 27001 certification and a GDPR policy?
- Employee experience: how simple is the declaration, and does it work on mobile?
- Service model: do you only get software, or can you outsource the administration too?
Cafeteria software or outsourcing — what is the difference?
With c1 Software we operate and update the system, and your HR team runs the administration (declarations, joiners and leavers, month-end close). With c1 Managed Services we do that too, with an SLA: policy, declarations, document management, employee helpdesk, month-end close and data delivery for payroll. Software is a good fit if you have HR capacity; outsourcing if capacity is tight or you need a fast rollout. You can move between the two models later.
Compare the packages →How much does a cafeteria system cost?
The fee depends on your headcount, the package and the add-ons you need, so we do not publish list prices. c1 is a cloud service: no hardware, installation or upfront investment, you pay a monthly fee. After you send the enquiry form we send you a personalised proposal.
Request a proposal on the packages page →What company size is c1 for, and which package should we choose?
c1 works regardless of size and industry, from a 30-person company to an enterprise of 10,000. Of the software packages, Standard is built for a simple policy, Flexible for several employee groups and mid-year declarations, and Enterprise for large headcounts and corporate integration. The managed-service packages (Mini, Plus, Max) build on these and differ in the level of helpdesk and contact.
Packages →Rollout and operation
How long does the rollout take?
There is no installation or hardware. After configuring your policy, loading the data and training, the system can go live right away.
Can we start during the year?
Yes. For a mid-year start we load the declarations already made, so the system takes the earlier choices of the year into account.
Do we need to install anything? Does it work on mobile?
No installation is needed: c1 runs in the browser, from the office, from home or on the go, and employees can complete their declaration on a mobile phone.
How does the system keep up with legal changes?
System and legal updates are included in every package: we implement the new year’s limits, tax rates and benefits, and the declaration already calculates with them. We write about upcoming changes on an ongoing basis.
Cafeteria 2027 – what we know now →How often can employees make declarations?
Annually, and in the Flexible and Enterprise packages also semi-annually, quarterly or even monthly. Every benefit can be requested on a single screen, and the system calculates the budget and the tax cost as employees type.
What makes c1 stand out? →Which languages is it available in?
The whole system is available in Hungarian, English and Ukrainian. An English-language helpdesk is available for managed services.
Integration and data security
Which payroll systems does it work with?
We deliver a payroll-posting file in the format of popular payroll systems (Nexon, Babér, Kulcs-Soft, Loga, SAP), and in a custom format in the Enterprise package. Automatic employee data sync from your HR system and forwarding of close files to sFTP are also available.
Integration options →Is there single sign-on (SSO)?
Yes, as an add-on: with corporate sign-in based on LDAP, Microsoft Active Directory or SAML 2.0, employees need no extra password.
Where is the data stored, and how secure is the system?
c1 runs on our own infrastructure in a Hungarian data centre. Our processes are certified to ISO 27001 (information security) and ISO 9001 (quality management); encrypted connections, detailed permission management and an activity log protect the data. We also have GDPR policies and professional liability and cyber insurance.
Does it handle the SZÉP Card?
Yes. Employees can choose SZÉP Card benefits in their declaration; a bank-terminal SZÉP transfer file is available, and the Enterprise package adds a central register of SZÉP account numbers.
